It could probably be defined in the language files, if its country dependency can be assumed from the language, otherwise it could be added to the user profile so they can choose it like they do with date format, time zone, etc.

I'm curious... why would you do it? For SQL engines that do not support this option, the only probably way would look something like: * Extract the table defition and include the new column wherever you wish. * CREATE newtable. * INSERT INTO newtable SELECT colum-list FROM oldtable. * DROP TABLE old...

No, it is not because (even if it is not explicit in the MySQL manual or I do not recall where it is), afaik, it is a MySQL extension to the SQL standard. It is not supported by other SQL engines such as PostgreSQL.

Yes, the AFTER/BEFORE clausules are not supported by all SQL servers.

The SET keyword is coded twice, the second one is not needed. I think.

Aside, instead of UNIX_TIMESTAMP() isn't it better to use the same method used by phpBB itself? ie. using the PHP function time()
