Re: OMGZZZ!!1 (Again, and actually important and worthwhile!

It looks like they are shooting for a big Beta announcement/release on April 1st. Someone said that is the anniversary of phpBB release.

Re: new idea for PHP IDE

The problem with Java is it is another layer of problems. It is slower to load, there are versioning issues, people have to have it installed, etc. It is much better to have a program like notepad where you click it and it opens. Java is OK for some stuff, but .exe editor will most certainly outpref...

Re: How far are you?

phpBB 2.0.14 released - April 15, 2005 phpBB 2.0.12 released - February 21, 2005 phpBB 2.0.13 released - Critical Update - February 27, 2005 Is that enough proof? No. That happened because someone thought it was funny to release security bugs right after the previous release was fixed. It happened ...

Re: Submit change to CVS

I don't know well how to use CVS. I made a change to phpBB3 and I'd like to sumbit it to the CVS repository. How can I do that? Thank you. Since things are changing all the time for the CVS, the developers might make your change anyway. But if they didn't you might want to suggest it when the Beta ...

Re: Why does phpBB use a posting confirmation page?

I remember reading once why confirmation pages are a good idea, there was a very good technical reason.

Plus, if there is no confirmation then a user may be confused as to whether their posting was actually posted.

Re: I am taking the code.

I hope the development team has backups or else the development may be in trouble with the code being taken and all.

Flurry of New Developers & Commits

I didn't see any topics discussing the uptake in development, so I thought I would start one.

Well this certainly is a pleasant surprise. It looks like a few new people have joined the development team. There is a lot of committing going on. It is nice to see things picking up even more :D

Re: WHY do people ask about phpBB3 so much?

I know what the developers said. What I am saying was they said that the beta would be upcoming. Well it is now 1/2 year after that statement, so it is bound to be floating around. A conversation probably goes like this: Person 1: "Hey, what is going on with phpBB 3?" Person 2: "I think I remember t...

Re: WHY do people ask about phpBB3 so much?

There are a couple reasons for this: 1) People are wondering where phpBB 3 is. People have been talking about it for years now. 2) There really isn't anything else to talk about on this forum. Everyone already knows most of what will be in phpBB 3. If you look back, when new stuff was introduced the...

Re: honestly..

I think what a lot of people are feeling is phpBB has a great community of developers, but the devlopment team is not doing the best to tap into that talent. Having such a closed development system with few developers is making things move really slow. But it is good to see a lot more acitvity in th...
