I'd need to play with this, but is there a reason that it runs if register_globals is definitely on rather than running if it is not definitely off. Knowing who writes that mod, I can venture a guess that they will most likely release an upgrade script that can cleanly port the hierarchy structure over to the new format flawlessly. I don't know what the case is for other mods.

There's also the superglobal arrays.

$_GET, $_POST, $_COOKIE, and $_REQUEST being the combination of all of them.

Custom profile fields sort of covers this, but overall it's unnecessary. I don't know what you mean in the second request. Regardless, it should all be posted in the request tracker that is linked in the forum index.
