Let someone then open a ticket about it. So that someone else can take care of it. Yes I know, sounds like rounding in circles, but... :)
I've created a ticket.

Re: Extension development: too short table and columns names

How about keeping the 30 character limit for the core, but allowing 63 bytes for the extensions? That would imply that anyone using Oracle would not be installing extensions (may possibly be true, but cannot be guaranteed) Only Oracle pre 12.2 Only extensions that define column or table names longe...

Re: Extension development: too short table and columns names

I did a quick Google search on the databases supported by phpBB. Oracle seems to be the culprit. Oracle: up to version 12.1: maximum 30 bytes From version 12.2 (March 2017): maximum 128 bytes MySQL: 64 characters MariaDB: 64 characters PostGreSQL: default 63 bytes, but configurable to be larger Sqli...

Extension development: too short table and columns names

Table and column names in the database can currently only be 30 characters long. In order to keep things nicely separated I would always prefix tables and columns from extensions with vendor_extensionname_ . But 30 characters is way too short for doing this. Is there any reason why there is a 30 cha...

Deployment with Git on a PaaS (i.e. Dokku)

phpBB nowadays is much geared towards shared hosting: Without access to the CLI. Uploading files yourself (including everything in /vendor). However, these days it has become cheap and easy to set up your own VPS in the cloud and do deployments wit Git. This can be done for example by installing Dok...

Re: Support for Emojis

I got reply from EmojiOne:
Hi Martti,

I appreciate your patience on this response. I've talked with my team and we've decided this is a case where adding attribution in the footer would satisfy the attribution requirement. I hope that helps!

Cheers,
Lisa

Re: Support for Emojis

I think you're confused about what this emoji support added actually is. When you add an emoji to a post it is stored as a utf-8 mb4 character. The post_text column encoding was modified to accommodate this type of data (before this change it would actually throw an error in previous versions). How...

Re: Support for Emojis

Reflects exactly what the guys over there told you. Because of my question to them, they've understood their license is unclear. That's why they are going to change it. Then remains: Does phpBB want to include emojis? I don't think that's good. phpBB should not be trying to be one tool for everythi...

Re: Support for Emojis

I have an answer from EmojiOne on how the emojis are used currently in phpBB: HI Martti, Thank you for your patience. It looks like phpBB is in the clear since it's only using the free assets for display but not including them for redistribution. We plan to make changes to our Free Licensing Terms t...

Re: Support for Emojis

Even without knowing the answer of EmojiOne, is in the spirit of or in accordance with the policy of phpBB to have this functionality in core? EmojiOne doesn't use a standardized license; they can change it anytime (as stated) and it's proprietary, restricting it the use (as opposed to the free soft...
