Re: [RFC|Merged] No db storage of stylesheets and templates

Storing "compiled" style-sheets in the cache is a good idea, but letting the client to load a few files just increases the load on the server (why make 7 requests when you can make only 1?) and +1 to VSE+! When "Compiling" style-sheets, can we add an optimizer to remove unneeded characters? (white-s...

Re: [RFC] Contact Page

  1. Bravo!
  2. What about protecting the e-mail address with an image (just an image, not a captcha.)
  3. Hope that this page will be optional.

Re: WYSIWYG editor

it is entirely client-side, all we have to do is implement it to the template. (and of-course make sure that all tags are allowed...)

Re: WYSIWYG editor

The WYSIWYG editor that convinced me the most so far was CKEditor. There have been discussions about integration a while ago. From what I can tell CKEditor is pluggable. i think CKEditor is a bit heavy for phpBB. i have seen an editor that would be very easy to integrate and outputs BBCode. http://...

Re: [RFC] Array based cache

It is a good idea, but it has a big disadvantage,
it will put extra load on the processor because you will have to parse the script on every request.

Forums depending on users language

First of all, add a Language attribute to forums (default "en"). When a user is surfing a site/forum, it is best to allow them see content in there own language, So if a forum has multiple languages installed, let phpBB determine which forums to display (depending on language). this includes adding ...

Re: [RFC] MOD Installer in 3.1

Good to add a Mod with just Copy & paste to a mod folder, And about file edits - this to can be resolved by adding an "Execution queue". every mod will be executed in an order defined by admin, instead of modifying template files, simply add place-holders for mods. every mod will be-able to add HTML...

Re: A new feature to overcome spam and flood

How about like how News channels block replies,
give posts a ranking, let admin choose from what rank the post will be collapsed and visible with a "show" link to expand.

a default rank of -3 will collapse item.

Re: [RFC] Use Google's jQuery

What if one day Google decides to shut-down the CDN?
Google's CDN is a service that they can shut when ever they want, let the users decide if they want to use jQuery via CDN.

And why Google's CDN, there are a few others too...

Re: [RFC] Usability: Always allow user to respond to PM

Let forum Administrator choose between the two:
  • Grant user to respond only to that sender
  • Notify sender that the user won't be able to respond via PM and suggest to send sender's email address.
