Re: IP Logger to prevent double registration

My board has many different instances of multiple posters living at the same physical address - a quick count up has revealed nine, and I'm sure I've missed a few. These are mainly married couples but there's at least one father and son.

Re: Bad user issue, privacy problems

You'd be better off taking this to the main phpBB site.

Co-incidentally I run a UK based music site, and have done for several years. We've had the odd crack-pot over that time, but no-one quite as bad as this.

Re: A way to stem the "When?" threads.

An indication of the status of the parts of the board still to be completed would be helpful as well

Re: Who made the phpBB smilies?

I'm sure I've seen Mr Green on a UBB board, running the version that used flat files and Perl. When that site was upgraded to a PHP version, it disappeared.

Section name change?

It seems that this section has had a name change today, removing any references to the actual version number. Does this mean that 2.1 is going to be version 3, or even a completely different product name?

Re: Progress of 2.2

I know many of my site's users personally, and if I introduced a karma option, everyone would give each other low ratings just out of spite. We migrated from another community which at one stage had a similar feature, and that's the kind of thing that happened there all the time. On that site, thoug...

Re: Forum permissions

As I always say Trial & error, thats the best way to learn things, also Normal Users, that don't know howto "Administrate" a board shouldn't be an Administrator on a board IMO. Make a system too complicated and end users are going to leave the system in droves. When PHP 2.2 finally appears next yea...

Re: Forum permissions

I just about understand how the permissions thing works, but I severely doubt my co-admins will be able to. In fact I've already one of them a copy of an earlier CVS snapshot when I met up with them earlier this year, and they were very confused. Similarly I believe that the admins of a couple of ot...

Re: Preview message

I have seen a feature on other forums where you mouse over a topic name, and it shows a little bit of the message in an alt box. Im just curious if this has been built in to phpBB 2.2, and is not turned on in this forum, or is not included in the forum. I use a site that had implemented this, but t...

Re: what happened to the karma?

The community my site replaced had a similar feature, where each user could be rated out of five, although it wasn't used to limit the display of posts.

Most users just hated the system; luckily after a software upgrade the feature could be disabled and it was.
