Re: [NEW THEME] 4. JS frameworks & approach

Hang On js menus are a nessecary evil. CSS is not currently capable of handling menus properly alone as they do not have control over things like state and position across responsive designs let alone the ability to adapt to mobile interactions.

Yes and the codepen more can be found in this topic http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=131&t=50326 Not sure where the second quote came from but it’s sort of out of context. Essentially we are working on some formal posts and announcements that will be coming to .com in the next couple mo...

Re: [NEW THEME] 4. JS frameworks & approach

So its apples and oranges really. As this discussion and this forum is not talking about the current version of the software or the current theme. We are talking about how to handle the next version and a completely new theme. I just wanted to make sure that was clear. Now I understand your points a...

Re: [NEW THEME] 4. JS frameworks & approach

But code commenting is not required when using something like vue as your code focused and your footprint is rather small. It’s also abstracted to the dom which also removes a lot of requirements for comments. Frankly it’s sounds more like you refuse to learn a framework or resource because you do n...

Re: [NEW THEME] 4. JS frameworks & approach

1. No one said anything about css? That is not an issue. 2. The world has changed in the last nearly a decade js is no longer just an enhancement it’s becoming the norm for interactive performant components that provide for better UX/UI with less overhead and a cleaner more organized codebase. 3. Re: Name of the new style

well it will work completely different. Essentially it will always load something if it’s in the template folder and if it does not find it it will load it from the all folder. It will just be performing inheritance at the component level rather than the theme. You are correct you do not base off th...

Re: Name of the new style

default is a little techy IMHO. Maybe something like base would work better for that type of name.

Re: Name of the new style

the overall design has a lot to do with the name we choose. As we have not yet started to work on the overall design/colors/etc its way to early to really settle on anything. We have a codename for that aspect of the project internally that we have been using for sometime now. However, for all the r...

Re: AJAX, jQuery, et. al.

This is all requires a lot of groundwork, we need to focus on building a working API first and the new theme. This will make way for proper inclusion of ajax. But first thing is first converting UCP/MCP to be globally accessed and use controllers...small steps...

Re: Convert prosilver to twig

Acctually, This is a disscussion topic I suggested that he make. The point being that as we work with/on the new theme it would be useful/faster to have a consistent baseline. This would help on the coding for the new theme as well since I can more easily copy and paste the structure back and forth ...
