first back up daily
next go thru all passwords and make all admin passwords a minimum of 12 characters

moving the forum tree

I have a new top forum I wish to put current forums under.
ver 3.2
is there a built in tool or do I have to do from the DB side.

if you have a apache server you can add a .htacess file to the folder were the phpbb root is.
then just put
Deny from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
if you want to ban a complete class C 0-255 address space
then
Deny from xxx.xxx.xxx

then they do not even get to the forum.

for those that can block IP's
there is class C block of spam bots that hit my forums every 4 min.
194.8.75
for apache servers just do a deny from 194.8.75
in a .htacess file.
they will get a 403 (forbiden error) and it saves bandwidth.
this month so far 8K + 403.
