Re: [Define New Theme] 3. We need to use a pre-processor such as LESS or which ever is decided upon at least in developm

Because as good programmers, we like making stuff easier for ourselves. That's fine as long as you don't make it harder for others. As I just explained, using LESS would not make it any easier for me. Really, it would not. I can use curl, but I use a web browser instead. Ha-ha! Thanks for sparing t...

Re: State of Area51

You do not seem to understand what you are saying. Nah! How could I? What do I know? I know crap! When I see a bunch of tiny GIF images where a single PNG sprite should be, I know it's crap. When I see you getting rid of human language dependencies in graphic files and stopping at "Online"...

Re: [Define New Theme] 3. We need to use a pre-processor such as LESS or which ever is decided upon at least in developm

Then why this need to make LESS a requirement? I can do whatever needs to be done in CSS directly, without using LESS. The end result is the same. Now, with LESS required, I have to go to the source files even for the smallest tweak. This will not make me any more efficient, actually... LESS!

Unless you are intending to implement on-the-fly LESS compilation inside phpBB and distribute the less files as a part of the standard distribution, the benefit of this is entirely lost on me. Sure, you can make all the LESS files a part of the graphics kit, that would help those who use LESS. Howev...

FAQ page musdie!

The FAQ page seems to be a useless anachronism at this point. It must go. 1. it is not easy to edit, certainly not by someone without direct access to the installation. Thus it often stays in its original form, regardless whether it actually addresses the questions of the particular site. 2. it is e...

Re: [Define New Theme] 8. Utilize Font Awesome icons where icons are needed to simplify server requests.

I find the benefits of this quite doubtful. 1. this font may not be accessible at any given moment due to a number of reasons, i.e. service interruptions, firewalls for intranets etc. 2. the overhead is very substantial. The file size is quite large compered to the number of icons to be used. 3. the...

Call it what it is, baby!

Yesterday I spent a half an hour trying to turn the Flash BBcode on for the registered users. Only some of my difficulty can be attributed to my own stupidity - the rest of the blame falls square on the developers and the translators. First, I set "GENERAL > Board configuration > Post settings ...
