Needless to say, this is a very early development version so there's bound to be some errors. Could you please report this to the bug tracker and include any relevant details to the error. For example, which environment are you using (PHP version, etc.) and which exact steps do you take to reproduce...

Agreed with David and Louis. Smilies allow admins to pick the images themselves, whereas for Emoji these are usually predetermined what they would look like. I don't think we would want to make those decisions for them and unnecessarily delete ways for customisation.
