Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

I realize and understand the reasoning behind the teams reluctance to say any sort of timetable for the release of 3.0. But, I hope the teams reconsider being as discourteous to the noob that registers and simply asks when 3.2 is going to be out. It is inevitable for there to be a large amount of r...

Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

prosilver can easily be edited to have the profile info on the left. It takes like 3 edits to the css files. There is a tutorial for it somewhere on phpbb.com, perhaps in the KB. I know, it was the first thing I did after installing phpBB 3.0, but it causes other issues with MODs and such when it's...

Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

Two things a lot of people are going to want: version of ProSilver with the avatars on the left hand side, and a quick reply. You should just ditch the arrogance and add them - disabled by default if need be.

Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

I just skimmed through the replies in this topic and wanted to address a couple of them. First of all, Quick Reply , it’s probably the #1 most requested MOD for the last 1¾ years that I’ve been watching the development of phpBB3. I’m sure many of you remember when "Quick Reply" was even i...

Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

I think the permissions system is far far superior in 3.0 than 2.0, although it would be nice if it were possible to view all of them on one page at once somehow.

Re: Quick Reply

We have no clear evidence that we don't have good developers I didn't claim otherwise. The significance to the project's goals of the personal opinion of the developers was my point, not that personal opinion was not at issue. I said as much in my opening comment. Yes, I was agreeing. I can sympath...

Re: Quick Reply

This I don't see. A message board has a certain function, and to have that function, it has to have certain features. It''s almost getting off-track, but the criteria for what constitutes a messageboard isn't much. Like you said there are pieces of minimalist forum software that lack perhaps 90% of...

Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

... I do not think it is right to stop him/her by leaving out that feature. That line of argument could be invoked about any feature a large segment of the community deems important. I'm not sure the nature of open source software in general and phpBB in particular supports the open-ended use of an...

Re: Quick Reply

Suppose, for example, that a clear majority of the community wanted the option of displaying topics in a threaded view of some kind. How does it follow that the project must include a threaded view option, else be subject to an unflattering list of adjectives? Well to be perfectly honest, if the cl...

Re: Quick Reply

I can see inane, but why egotistical? It makes no obvious sense to throw ad homs in an already inane discussion. It's quite possible to disagree with the developers' decision, and many understandably do, but I have yet to see a compelling argument mustered on either side. It does boil down to prefe...
