Re: Some Captcha's are far too easy

actually it depends on how the animated captcha is, if you have one in flash it could be morphing letters and a morphing background also to throw off computers Flash can easily be decompiled and have the original text read out from it - that would be like using a reversible hash algorithm to store ...

Re: Will Olympus be search-engine friendly?

OK, sorry for being a bit slow on uptake. I guess I figured that it wouldnt hurt bots as it is right now, I was just being overly safe and cynical.. :|

Re: Upgrade phpBB2 to phpBB3 CVS?

Certainly possible, but you'd need to create your own conversion scripts and such, and phpbb3 is currently unsupported, and it's highly recommended to not use Olympus in a production environment until it hits release.

Re: Will Olympus be search-engine friendly?

Right, I get that (I use get-style vars in all my php programs). What I'm saying is that in the urls to pages on this board and others, I still get the 'sid' get var included in the url, even though the value of the var is blank. Will that affect searchbots, or is it something to not worry about?

Re: Will Olympus be search-engine friendly?

if that's the way it's supposed to be, how come I still get a '?...' part to all my urls? won't that disrupt the search bots' linkings?

Re: Will Olympus be search-engine friendly?

The template engine is an excellent place for a large amount of such trickery to happen. A smart fellow could simply do this magick to template variables that start with U_ ;-) Hmm, I didn't realize the templating system was powerful enough to do that. But that makes things nice and easy, and unexp...

Re: A few feature comments and question

I think the real point here is that if you are worried about a user giving themselves more power, they really shouldn't be part of your admin team. Do you really someone to be in charge of your system and its users if you can't even trust them to obey your limits?

Re: A few feature comments and question

They have, which is what the 'founder' tag is set for in a user's profile. Only founders can edit the permissions and status of other founders. That is unless I misunderstood what I read (somewhere, don't remember).

Re: Will Olympus be search-engine friendly?

Very true that the mod_rewrite part of friendly URIs is implemented without touching the code, but the issue with then having the board send you to those generated URI's is a whole different can of worms. Unless things have dramatically changed since the last time I looked at phpBB2 code, there woul...
