Re: Biggest competition threats to PHPBB forums

Try scrolling with the keyboard (PgUp/PgDn/Home/End/arrows). It won't work. Why? Because you used javascript to place the focus on the username INPUT tag. If your index/home page was small and required no scrolling, what you did would be fine (and desirable). However, your index/home page is fairly...

Re: A member's profile url should be the username

What if you linked to a user's profile and later that user changes his/her username? That link would be useless... I don't think that would be the end of the world. At the least (and as stated), the person would receive a message stating that the username don't exist. No different from a web page n...

Re: "Remember Me" checked by default

I'm with Dog Cow on this one. I would never want this to be set by default. There is too much liability, not only for my own account, but for anyone else as well. What if someone logs in at a library computer and forgets to turn off the box? Not cool. Something as important as eliminating the need f...

Re: Moving posts in one topic

Is there a reason one larger post can't serve the same purpose? What requirement makes it necessary to involve more than one post?

Re: [RFC] user signature modifications for posts

There are definitely use cases for this. On my largest board some folks have bible references in their signatures. Completely within the rules, but there are always some folks that find it "inappropriate" or something. Giving them the option to hide selective signatures (as opposed to all ...

Re: [RFC] user signature modifications for posts

User preferences should not - in my opinion - ever be stored in a cookie. For example, I use at least three different computers to access various sites. I don't want to have to reset my "ignore this signature" preference on every device. Why not use this as a modification of the friend/foe...

As stated, I believe this is covered under the post revisions concept.

This is my opinion as well. I don't think I've ever coded any other way.
