Re: Repeating topic title in each post..

The title bar in the browser shows the title of the topic. You decided to hide it? Well for you. But I don't understand why do you want to get rid of 1 instance of the title and then request to replace it with 20. I expected that someone would come with this argument. However, the truth is that man...

Leave the post title alone!

It would be a good idea to remove the "RE:TOPIC TITLE" in further posts after the first one. When you moderate and split posts to start a new thread with, you end up having to also edit each post title renaming it (to new thread title), otherwise you have a new thread with one title and a...

Can mangling of copy & pasted shortened URLs be prevented?

It happens regularly on my forums that users directly select, copy & paste text from other posts to a new reply, so without using the quote-buttons. This gives problems when the copied text contains URLs that are shortened by the board: the copy & pasted URLs get mangled. Is there some way t...

Re: [RFC] Bigger topic title lenght limit

I'm fairly sure that's due to this being added "Re: " that's R + e + : + blankspace== 4 character spaces Yes, but my point is that currently there is no extra 4 characters room made for "Re: " in the subject line of replies. What is happening now is that when a topic is started ...

Re: [RFC] Bigger topic title lenght limit

I don't think we need an ACP setting for this but thanks for both links. Do we want to go to 120/124 or 100/104 or 200/204 (second number is for if its a reply it needs to have topic title length plus 4 characters. Having them the same would chop of a 100 char topic title by 4 chars in all replies....

Re: Sort topics by the time the topic was started

Hi Steve, I just checked your test board. That's exactly what I mean. Very useful to have that option. edit: adding 6 nov 2013: I only noticed today that you also offer the options to sort by replies and by views. These are also very nice additional search options! If one day phpBB will have some po...

Sort topics by the time the topic was started

I would like to suggest another tiny but neat improvement to the search function: In case one has selected to "Display results as: Topics", include the search option to sort the results by post time of the first post. One of the current search options is to sort the results by post time, w...

Re: Biggest competition threats to PHPBB forums

The rating/thanks system has been discussed before, for example here where I submitted my thoughts on this. A simple like/dislike has become widely popular on the internet, and I think there might be a place for it in phpB too. Already people regularly comment with "+1" or similar at forum...

Ability to search between two dates

The search function of a discussion board is very important, because one needs to be able to retrieve information, and as quickly as possible. The current search function provides the possibility to search through all posts, or limit the results to the previous days/weeks/months and a maximum of 1 y...
