Re: mods

And if there are errors with the upgrade script, you could just export the relevant phpBB tables from phpMyadmin, install into a fresh phpbb 2.0.x and then upgrade it. Simple 8)

Re: Why is there no portal system included with phpbb?

Well, you yourself posted a link to the available portals for phpBB. Why should the devs use their time (which could be put to better use making new features for phpBB or optimizing code) to produce something that already exists and works? As far as I know several of these portal mods are quite goo...

Re: About upgrading...

There is an exploit or two that have been fixed in 2.0.13. Hackers look for vulnerable boards and letting them know that you're unpatched could potentially "invite" them to exploit your board for their own strangley perverted means

Re: About upgrading...

Your host should be able to help you out if you're trying to get a backup of your database. If you're upgrading to 2.0.13 there aren't actually any database changes (that I'm aware of) all you need to do is download the changed files package, select the one to upgrade 2.0.11 to 2.0.13 and then uploa...

Re: Proposed code review of phpBB

That pretty much sums it up ... none of us have enough spare time at present to work on phpBB as much as we should. So downing tools to do this at present is an absolute no go. I am interested ... though as others have noted there is a smidgen of arrogance in the proposal (though I'm sure none is a...

If you want to be a forum admin, get some webspace, download phpBB, install and go from there.

Re: Now it's late-Feb/early-March!

And so what if it is? psoTFX has said countless times that he isn't going to post a release date because if he did and it was delayed, a lot of phpBB users would whine about it just like what has happened with the late-feb early march shizz thats going down now. Sit tight and play around with the CV...

The blog address has a very fuinky theme and LOADz of content on it right now

I always enjoyed reading psoTFXs' blog. Gave a little insight, but I guess he's too busy with 3.0.x atm :D

Re: Now it's late-Feb/early-March!

*bangs head against a brickwall* Can't we all be patient bunnies and stop whining? It'll done when it's done. I don't know how many times I've read that on here lately, but does it bother me? No. Why? Because I'd rather have Olympus all nice and finished than full of security holes, missing features...

Re: Proposed code review of phpBB

But as Ybarra says, I don't think its the kind of thing that devs will want to respond to publicly. Take the last locking and previous deletion of your topic as a sign, this isn't the place to post. Security through obscurity never works. Of all the releases of phpBB 2.0.x, which ones weren't for s...
