Re: The current CVS.
There is no support whatsoever for the development version (2.1) of the upcoming phpBB Olympus (3.0). If you download a CVS snapshot, you agree not to ask for support until Beta. Many people here got it to work, but if you can't, you should wait for Beta or look in the code and try to find out what ...

Re: will this board put a heavier load on system resources?
Olympus takes less recources than 2.0. You can find proof for this by looking at this server. It not only hosts this forum, but also a very big forum with a lot of activity. But the person who hosts area51 does not want credit, so you will have to find out yourself what this forum is... Anyway, as y...

Re: Suggestions to validate attachments
Are you talking about 2.0 or the upcoming 3.0 here? If you are talking about 2.0: There is no official attachment support for this version. But you might try some of the attachment mods, I would guess, that some feature like this is implemented. At least it is possible to enable users to send you a ...

Re: simple question
This is a development version of phpBB 3.0 (Olympus), the upcoming version of phpBB. Read more about it in the news at http://www.phpbb.com" target="_blank . Please note: This new version is currently unsupported and not even in beta phase. So downloading it is unwise, unless you have good...

Re: Software patents
Anyway, it might be wise for EU residents to have a look at the websites, especially at http://www.nosoftwarepatents.com" target="_blank . If you agree that software patents could be a problem, it would be a real help if you placed a banner with a link in your sig in the forums you're in o...

Re: Sessions
It was fairly easy to get phpBB 2.0 session management to work outside of phpBB. You might try searching the main forums, it was just some includes and a few lines of code (some more if you wanted access restrictions). I'm quite sure it will again be possible to integrate your homepage in phpBB and ...

Re: mods
Good mod authors who are still active in the community will most likely provide an upgrade path to either convert the db changed by the mod back to something that can be upgraded without problems or will even make their mods 3.0 compatible. I would not worry about this for the time being, there will...

Re: Style included for Beta
Will the final release have the current style being used here *in addition to* the new and improved one, or will it ONLY be the new one? Hi, I tried out the search function (which still has some bugs, but rocks!) and found this: http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19092&hilit=...
