what about subforums... do they inherit permissions?

The grouping would also be very helpful

Is there a way to disable the the coloring legend in the "who's online" box?

yeah, the new permissions system is certainly not short on control!

There is still work to be done on permissions. I agree it can be rather overwhealming when you first see it. Indeed, as I've stated elsewhere work on the admin facing permission system will continue through the beta cycle. Thanks! Perhaps a good set of pre-installed presets will make things easier.

Does this board have that enabled or not?

I downloaded the CVS version a few days ago and I was very impressed by the admin control panel until I tried working with the permissions of forums, groups, etc. 8O It seems to me that there are so many options that it becomes overwelming! It seems a "simple mode" as found in phpBB 2.0.X ...

Has this board been in development since July of 2001 or was it upgraded from the other developement boards? I was just wondering because the first users registered in July 2001.

Does anyone still use phpBB 1? I was just curious about how far this bulletin board has come.

I was just wondering if phpBB 2.2.0 would have an archive feature to replace pruning. For example you could archive old posts to a seperate section of the BB that could be accessed from the index.
