Re: php 5

Let's hope so :) I can't speak for the developers but the current code does have problems with PHP5, mostly with array_merge. If you have time you can fix them to make it work. A couple things that need to be done: You cannot mix scalars with arrays in the arguments to array_merge. If you do you get...

Re: New VB out, New IPB out, New phpBB ___

I remember when 1.0 got released they said they would always keep some free version, look at them now it seems money has made them blind. The fools. I read a thread about that. Apparently it was never said, and was just a rumor. All the posts were removed from the forum at the time of the announcem...

Re: New VB out, New IPB out, New phpBB ___

Try them out :) IPB 2.0 is really nice and I now use it for a small family forum. They still have a free version but it's not open source like phpbb. That there is the big difference and is why I can patiently await for phpbb 2.2.

Re: Is it possible to use phpbb 2.1?

It just takes a lot of experimentation with the latest CVS tarballs to find one that works. I still use one from several months back. It doesn't have the PM code working but it's been very stable for me. Even upgraded my server to PHP 5.0.1 and MySQL 4.1 gamma and phpbb2.1.2 is working great. I just...

Re: Just Tested PHPbb2

Mainly, I can't create a forum that doesn't require each post to be approved, and it looks like approving doesn't work yet either. Haven't figured out how to manually change this yet either, maybe its a feature to keep people from using it full time already. Did you make sure to set the permission ...

Re: Call me crazy, but here's my portal for phpbb 2.1.2 :)

The graphical overview of the article folders is a really good idea. Did you come up with that yourself or havn't I seen enough article modules. The inspiration for that came from sitepoint.com. I liked the way they arranged it so you can click on any category to display the articles underneath it....

Re: Call me crazy, but here's my portal for phpbb 2.1.2 :)

There's good news and bad news. The good news is that I will have an alpha release ready by monday, just keep in mind this is very rough code and has no admin tool. I actually have one release already but I noticed a few bugs when installing it from scratch so I'm working on a new one. This is why I...

Was just trying to point out that IPB 2.0 has them as well if that's something he needs for his project :)

Re: When can I start, and how far is M3?

The completion of 2.1.4 is probably the bare minimum since that's when PM goes in but even that is probably going to be buggy as hell and due to have some changes to the database tables. As much as I hate to mention IPB in here the 2.0 version of it is out now in early beta. It's offers many of the ...

Re: heh (?)

concerning the go-gaia example. you have to say as well, that the admin of the forum (lanzer) tweaked his 2.0.x quite a bit like he described in some excellent postings in this thread over at the main board gwgreetings, kampfengerl I don't believe that vB/ipb or any other forum out there wouldn't n...
