Re: Refresh Captcha?
An AJAX-based reload button would be nice. The solution of course should be changed too.

Re: All times are UTC ...
why do we have to select a time zone instead of just selecting what time is it now (it's a rhetorical question for developers)? Because you are only able to retrieve the server time (which is used as a default) and not the users/clients time. ;) I was not clear enough. I was speaking about the way ...

Re: New "f" tag for viewtopic?
Or, indeed, you could run a query to find out the forum ID, and then redirect to the *correct* url, meaning that search engines and users don't get thrown back to the index for no apparent reason. That's a really smart way on handling things. Another idea for this mod is redirecting ?p= requests to...

I believe there will be a mod soon that will use JavaScript, analyze local time and select an appropriate time zone on registration. If not, I will make one. Besides, if not using JavaScript, why do we have to select a time zone instead of just selecting what time is it now (it's a rhetorical questi...

Re: Why enter e-mail twice?
Mistype = you can't get to your account. Personally, it annoys me (so ctrl+a, ctrl+c, tab, ctrl+v is used when confronted with such a form), but I see the reason for it. Anyway 99.9% of people do Copy-Paste for this field and if they are mistaken – it's their problem. 90% of people have this field ...

Re: Captcha Suggestion
If they wanted to make the Captcha even tighter, they could remove the color words in the string choices (white, orange, red, yellow), and replace them with small image boxes representing each color using a color filled box. I guess the biggest criticism to this would be from those who are color bl...

Re: question about authentication DB
I have a similar problem. Currently LDAP authorization works like that (correct me if I am wrong): if a new user logs on to LDAP server successfully - a new user is created in PhpBB database. I have modified the behaviour to let LDAP users log in with their LDAP credentials as well as allowing new u...

Re: Refresh Captcha?
It would help bots. A smart way IMHO would be to leave the decision on this balance to admins. I mean to make the number of retries customizable from 1 (current setting) to n. I would set this to 3-5 on my board. On the other hand nothing stops the bot to refresh the whole page while it is not so c...
