I would personally steer clear of installing any mods that require altering the database at this point. im worrying about this myself. i added a ton of mods back in the day that altered the DB like the ignore mod, last visit, and a bunch more. i have since gone back to a lightly modded forum so tho...

those all have a phpBB install script embedded as long as you buy the powertools license.

im not a programmer, but i installed the snapshot and played around with it for a few days. checked out most facets of the program too...
