Simple BBCode syntax highlighting

I think it could be interesting to extend the code tag to highlight BBCodes, like it currently does with PHP by default. Or maybe create a new tag for BBCodes. It's only a visual/cosmetic improvement and I'm not sure if it would be worth the time, that's why I didn't open any phpBB Idea or RFC. I ho...

Re: Integration win wordpress?

There is another project called "WP United", which is supposed to integrate and run WP and phpBB altogether (same registration and users for both). But as NeilUK stated above, updates are a common problem with this kind of projects. It rarely uses the latest versions of both phpBB and WP (...

Re: What is the future of phpBB????

The development team/community at phpBB is really good and if (again, I don't see this happening) they decided to go that route I think it would be great. Sure! I didn't mean the developers are bad. But I (and a lot more phpBB users IMO) wouldn't like phpBB as much as I do now if it became a CMS-fo...

Re: [Define New Theme] 8. Utilize Font Awesome icons where icons are needed to simplify server requests.

439 icons is a + not a negative as it gives theme/extension authors the ability to add more or switch them around plus its all cached so their is no performance issues. Yes, I understand that. And for my forum it's fine. I will use it if it's included. My idea came from a "default-style perspe...

Re: What is the future of phpBB????

IMHO there are be much better options than Joomla from an integration point of view. Drupal would be my first choice at the moment, but it's just a personal preference and things change from time to time. I don't see kunena as a threat to phpBB either. By usage statistics, I think SMF or even bbPres...

Re: LIKE posts feature added in phpBB 3.1

Here you are discussing about two different things: Flags and ratings. I understand "likes" as flags . Flags are individual marks you can place on any object/content. This applies to "bookmarks", "thanks", "likes", "+1s", "pins" or whatever...

Re: [Define New Theme] 8. Utilize Font Awesome icons where icons are needed to simplify server requests.

And what about using a custom font? Pros: Size and performance: e.g. why should my forum load a font with 439 icons if it's going to use only 50? Consistency: default icon-font can be updated with each new version of the style, not depending on external or third party updates. Cons: You loose the op...

Re: Links forum in new windows

I hate links opening in new windows. If I want I'll use the center button of the mouse to do it. I agree, even for link-forums. Besides, current browsers have tabs too. I think opening links in the same window is the "natural way" for links to work. This way, you always give the choice to...

Re: Prosilver redesign

After reading the whole thread, I'm still curious about one of the changes in prosilver from RC1 to RC2: Why did you change the board maximum width from fluid to fixed ( max-width ) and added the external border? These changes make it look closer to a "blue prosilver SE" than to the origin...
