Re: Password hashing function

Triple MD5 ;) Would take almost 600ms to generate each hash. Would also be compatible with the old one -

IF Format(user_md5) != NewFormat THEN
user_md5 = "T3:" . MD5(MD5(user_md5))

Re: Stealing of ideas?

Well you can call me a troll if you like (although unjustified) .. my points where on topic and I wasn't attacking anyone or anything so.. Maybe your just upset because I can see both sides of the coin where you can only see it from PHPBB's point of view. I'm assuming that the PHPBB team could do th...

Re: Stealing of ideas?

You're jumping in with both feet here, without really knowing anything about phpBB's developmental history evidently, which justs adds to the impression you set in your previous topic regarding CVS support. If it's so lame, why do you continue you to post here? To troll? :) Was that aimed at me? :?

Re: Stealing of ideas?

You don't just own the idea unless you take out a patent.. So no you can't take them to court. I agree that they should have the courtesy to acknowledge ideas if they (or you) have copied them from other projects. But you must understand that copying is a fundamental in computing.. Did you ever wond...

Re: Password hashing function

This discussion is silly, just because Slashdot and other sites have insane titles like 'MD5 has been broken' doesn't make it true or MD5 insecure. Other than wiping out a calculator I have no idea how many possible hash combinations there are in MD5 but the real point is if you go from something wh...

Option - Safe View Public IP

I would like to see the ability to have the forum list other users IPs in the post and on their username (to everyone). But of course this could lead to 'hacking' attempts between members. I believe it is possible to eliminate such attempts by, before you list you hash (one-way hash) the IP. This ef...

Emoticon aliasing

Would it be possible to be able to alias emoticons so you can have multiple references to them. So instead of : ) and : - ) being separate in the emoticon admin config you have them both as one but separated by ; for example or ,

Text file database?

Is there any plans to have a plain text database option? I would like to see this because hosting companies make us pay though the nose for SQL and if it is done correctly plain text can be just as fast as SQL and just as secure (below the HTTP root; HTTP secured etc...). Also multiple files can act...

Are you joking?! Why wouldn't you want users to help each other.... how does this hurt you?!!!!
